Argentina Updates Firearms Registry Fees and Fines

Argentina's Ministry of Security has doubled the fees and maximum fines for the National Firearms Registry. The decision aims to offset inflation, with new rules set to take effect immediately.

Argentina Updates Firearms Registry Fees and Fines

Argentina's Ministry of Security has updated the fees and maximum fine amounts for the National Firearms Registry (RENAR), with a 100% increase over the values in effect since 2022, as published today in the Official Gazette. Through Resolution 1383/2025, signed by Minister Alejandra Susana Monteoliva, the maximum fine amount was set at ten million pesos for both individuals and commercial users, industries, transport companies, importers, exporters, and other responsible parties under the agency's jurisdiction. The regulation sets the value of the RENAR Unit at two thousand pesos as the basis for calculating forms, procedures, and fines, according to the Argentine News Agency. According to the resolution's considerations, since the last update established by Resolution 204/2022 of the then National Agency of Controlled Materials, tariff values have depreciated by over 600% based on the INDEC Consumer Price Index. However, the Ministry of Security decided to update the rates by 100% in order to not pass the inflationary impact directly on to users. The measure repeals Articles 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 of Resolution 204/2022 and delegates to the RENAR Executive Directorate the approval of technical specifications, design, and format of forms and registry elements. The resolution will come into effect on the first business day following its publication.
