In the framework of the closing of the 74th Ordinary National Congress of the trade union organization, this Wednesday, November 12, the General Secretary of the Federation of Oilseed and Cotton Ginneries (FTCIODyARA), Daniel Yofra, announced that oilseed and cotton workers will go on strike to fight against the imminent labor reform promoted by the government of Javier Milei. «We, the oilseed and cotton workers, will go on strike when this government wants to advance against labor rights,» he highlighted. Yofra stressed that «we stopped the State reform to the extent that the government had planned it.» «The time has come to discuss wealth. We need to discuss the model that gives us dignified work and salaries,» he added. He also noted the need to «coordinate actions and carry out a plan to defeat the labor reform and to defeat this government and all governments that want to go against labor rights.» «The only thing that will save us is collective struggle. We are willing to continue working in unity, we are willing to write projects that foster this unity,» he stated. Meanwhile, Aguiar considered: «the government is not invincible because it came for the right to strike and it couldn't. We can't be satisfied with the fact that we are okay,» he highlighted, referring to the fact that last week the Federation of Oilseed Workers, together with the San Lorenzo Oil Workers and Employees Union (SOEA), reached a collective agreement that will raise the initial salary to $2,344,000 pesos from January 1, 2026, for the initial category. The congress also included the participation of the general secretaries Abel Furlán (UOM), Rodolfo Aguiar (ATE) and María Fernanda Boriotti (FESPROSA), who agreed with Yofra on the need to deepen the struggle to stop the labor reform. In this line, Boriotti considered: «the labor reform is a reality in the State. We have to have empathy with the rest of the class and we have to go out to fight. We closed a great collective agreement, but we can't be satisfied with that. This is not a pep talk. We have empathy and solidarity with the rest of the class. The problem of Argentina is not the poor but the rich and their way of accumulating wealth. We are not here to survive. And Argentina is going against this. We are in the middle of a deindustrialization process. What they want now is to put a bow on the labor reform. The United States and China are discussing who will get the skilled workforce. We are here to fight and build a path of collective growth to be able to live happily with our families». Finally, Furlán added: «we need the labor movement to regain centrality in the discussion of what model of country we want for our society. And, for that, we have to go to all the places where there is conflict to be present and to tell them that we are with them,» Yofra emphasized. And he added: «the battle we have to fight is to go on strike. Are we going to accept that project of the country or are we going to rebel?», Furlán asked. The congress also included the participation of the general secretaries Abel Furlán (UOM), Rodolfo Aguiar (ATE) and María Fernanda Boriotti (FESPROSA), who agreed with the need to deepen the struggle to stop the labor reform.
