Violence Erupts in Protests Against Government

The Minister of Security, Patricia Bullrich, reported on the events that occurred during a demonstration at the Congress of Argentina. Initially, the call was made by retirees, later joined by the left and the Polo Obrero, followed subsequently by groups of soccer hooligans. Bullrich denounced an alleged connection between the hooligans and narcopolitics, backed by some mayors and union leaders.

During the altercation, the Minister indicated that firearms, knives, spikes to puncture the tires of police cars, among other items, were confiscated. In light of the situation, Bullrich highlighted the Government's determination to maintain public order at all costs. She pointed out that the marches went from having 40 or 50 retirees to turning into violent episodes with a clear intent to destabilize.

In another development, the case of photojournalist Pablo Grillo was mentioned, who was seriously injured by the impact of a tear gas canister during the police repression. Bullrich stated that Grillo is a Kirchnersit militant and is under arrest. According to the Minister, the photographer worked at the Municipality of Lanús with Julián Álvarez.

In this context, Bullrich emphasized the severity of the incidents, attributing them to individuals politically aligned with the objective of overthrowing the Government. She indicated that those involved in the disturbances were prepared for acts of extreme violence. The Minister reaffirmed the Government's commitment to combating any attempt to generate chaos or public disorder in the country.
