The American businessman and prominent figure in the crypto world, Charles Hoskinson, revealed that individuals involved in the launch of $LIBRA requested money to arrange a meeting with President Javier Milei. Hoskinson claimed they promised him that "magical things" would happen if he managed to meet with the Argentine leader. The money request took place last October during his visit to Argentina to attend the Tech Forum, where Milei was the main guest. Julian Peh, the businessman behind $LIBRA, was also at the event, managing to get an exclusive photo with Milei.
"We found people telling us: 'Hey, give us something (hand gesture of bills), we can organize a meeting, and, ah, yes, magical things can happen'", highlighted the co-founder of Cardano in a video posted on his account. Hoskinson emphasized that he rejected the request because it violated U.S. regulations. He explained that they attempted to have a personal meeting with Milei due to the perception that the Argentine Government was willing to do business, which represented a significant opportunity to introduce blockchain infrastructure in the country.
This incident occurred after the scandal in Argentina caused by the promotion of $LIBRA on the official accounts of the President.
