The National Meteorological Service (SMN) issued a series of yellow and orange level alerts on Monday, covering the central zone of the country and part of the Mesopotamia region, due to the forecast for storms of varying intensity. According to the National News Agency, the areas under yellow alert include half of the province of Buenos Aires (including the AMBA), to the north, the east of La Pampa, most of Córdoba, the entirety of Santa Fe, Corrientes, Entre Ríos, Formosa, and Chaco, and some areas of Jujuy, Santiago del Estero, and Salta. According to the official agency, the areas under yellow alert could be affected by strong storms, capable of generating abundant rainfall in short periods, intense gusts, electrical activity, and possible hail. Meanwhile, in the areas where the orange alert is in effect, the forecast phenomena are of greater intensity and can cause more severe complications, with persistent rain, significant accumulations, and gusts that could exceed usual values, increasing the risk of flooding and other issues. The SMN recommended that the population stay informed through official channels, avoid outdoor activities during storms, not take out the trash to prevent obstructions in drains, and secure objects that could be displaced by the wind. In addition, it is advised to drive with caution, especially on flooded roads and streets, and to follow the instructions of local authorities in case of any eventuality. The bad weather system is expected to remain active for most of the day, so temporary improvements are not ruled out, though with unstable conditions throughout the affected region.
