Argentina Launches New Vaccination Monitoring Dashboard

Argentina's Ministry of Health has introduced a new digital dashboard for the National Vaccination Calendar. This system will provide real-time data on vaccination coverage nationwide, enabling more effective campaign planning and evidence-based decision-making. Other key public health topics were also discussed, including breastfeeding surveys and whooping cough control.

Argentina Launches New Vaccination Monitoring Dashboard

The Ministry of Health of the Nation presented the new Vaccination Calendar Monitoring Dashboard, aiming to systematize key information on trends, behaviors, and gaps to optimize the immunization strategies implemented in the country.

This initiative was presented during the meeting of the Federal Health Council (COFESA), the health portfolio headed by Mario Lugones reported. The Dashboard represents a technological and methodological advance for both the Ministry of Health's leadership work and the health management of jurisdictions by providing reliable and real-time updated data to monitor strategies, guide targeted actions, improve planning, and anticipate risk scenarios.

«Its dynamic design facilitates comparative analysis between provinces, departments, age groups, and the evolution of strategies over recent years, contributing to more efficient and evidence-based management,» the portfolio stated.

During the presentation of this new tool, the General Director of Logistics and Processes, Juan Pablo Saulle, highlighted the work of the data team from the Directorate of Control for Preventable Immunizable Diseases in integrating records from the Argentine Integrated Health Information System (SISA) and the Federal Nominal Vaccination Registry (NOMIVAC), ensuring traceability, consistency, and transparency in monitoring coverage.

Other topics of the day

National teams also presented a new environmental favorability map for the reintroduction of wild yellow fever. Through a series of indicators, this new development allows for the early detection of the country's most vulnerable areas to the establishment of a sylvatic cycle, which will be fundamental for guiding preventive vaccination campaigns and facilitating decision-making.

Additionally, an analysis of coverage in endemic zones was conducted. The results show that 65.4% of the target population received the first dose of the vaccine in the first year of life, while only 30.3% received the booster dose at 11 years. In this regard, the importance of sensitizing health teams to the obligation to report doses administered of the yellow fever vaccine, as well as other calendar vaccines, in NOMIVAC was emphasized.

During the day, the Undersecretary of Sectoral Relations and Articulation, Augusto Lauría, presented the new edition of the National Breastfeeding Survey (ENaLac), which will be carried out in hospitals and health centers of the public sector across the country. The survey aims to estimate the prevalence of breastfeeding in the population that demands the public health system, to know breastfeeding patterns according to sociodemographic and health variables, to characterize the type of milk consumed in cases of partial breastfeeding or weaning, and to inquire about the influence of advertising of formulas/infant foods. The project is in the sample design stage, and the publication of the results is estimated for next September.

Another topic addressed was the launch of the VisitAR app, a digital tool that allows first-level care agents to register the socio-sanitary data of the population under their care through their mobile devices, even without connectivity. This new development also facilitates the systematization of information by jurisdictional health ministries, thus generating quality resources for decision-making.

Similarly, an update on the epidemiological situation of whooping cough was shared, and a review of the support actions for Tierra del Fuego to contain the outbreak registered in that province was conducted. The national assistance includes the implementation of blocking strategies, follow-up of close contacts, and prophylaxis measures.
