Argentine organization desperately seeks new home for 300 horses

ACMA in Argentina is desperately searching for a new plot of land to house over 300 horses facing eviction. Without a new home, the animals, many of whom are elderly or sick, will be left without shelter. The organization is calling for urgent help.

The Association Against Animal Cruelty (ACMA) is seeking to ensure that over 300 horses can “live in freedom” with the appropriate care after situations of abuse. However, approximately 130 equines are at risk due to an imminent eviction and must be relocated before December, leading the organization to make a desperate plea. In an interview with the Argentine News Agency, Claudia Larese, a member of the association's board, explained that they have two rented fields. One is where they take the rescued animals that receive urgent veterinary care and daily monitoring. “They are old or disabled.” The conflict lies in a second space, located in the city of Castelli in Buenos Aires Province, where the horses with medical discharges are kept. There, “they live freely across several hectares with caregivers and their own control, but the field must be vacated by the end of the year.” “They are not renewing our lease, and when a horse gets injured, it needs to be moved there to receive the proper care. The urgent need is to rent a plot of between 100 and 200 hectares in the southern area,” stated Larese. The specification of the area, as clarified by the source, is because costs in other areas of the metropolitan area are “impossible for the NGO to afford,” while also noting that the relocation of the animals also requires a significant economic and logistical effort. “Our mission is for the horses to live in freedom for the rest of their lives, to be cared for, attended to, dewormed, and vaccinated because they are not wild horses,” she insisted and concluded: “Every detail can change everything.” Additionally, the organization accepts donations, and those who wish to collaborate can do so through their social media or website.
