The Aedes aegypti mosquito, to reproduce, needs places where water accumulates, both inside and outside the house, in the yard, on the balcony or in the garden. Any container with a minimal amount of water, even the cap of a bottle, can be a breeding ground. Therefore, preventive measures must be reinforced. Each neighbor, in their home, has a fundamental role, by cleaning any place or container that accumulates water and disposing of objects they do not use and that could serve for the mosquito to lay its eggs and reproduce. To prevent the proliferation of mosquitoes, it is necessary: Cover water tanks and deposits. Turn upside down any containers that can accumulate water. Change and clean the water in flower vases and animal drinkers every day. Put sand in the plant pot holders so that it absorbs the water. Empty and clean the air conditioning or rainwater drain collectors. Clean gutters and grilles. Place mosquito nets on the ventilation pipes of septic tanks. To avoid mosquito bites, you must use long sleeves and pants; apply repellent respecting the indications on the label; protect cradles and strollers with tulle; use coils or repellent tablets in each room of the house; and place mosquito nets on the windows. It is important to use a condom in all sexual relations since zika is also transmitted that way. Source: Press and Communication Secretariat of Salta.
