Driver's License Renewal in Argentina

The process of renewing a driver's license in Argentina imposes certain conditions that drivers must meet. If they cannot comply, the renewal cannot take place. According to the official site of Road Safety, differentiating from other procedures, the renewal process does not require taking the National Road Education Course.

A driver's license is a mandatory document in Argentina to be able to drive vehicles, and it may be required by authorities during routine checks or investigations. According to National Traffic Law 24.449 and local regulations, there are age-related restrictions for obtaining and renewing this driving document.

According to authorities, a driver's license can be obtained from the age of 17 with parental authorization, or independently from the age of 18. This permit allows drivers to operate different types of vehicles. To start the process, it is necessary to create an account using the CUIL and an email address, and then access the button "My First License".

In the case of young people aged 16 to 21 applying for a license for the first time, they must pass a theoretical course and other exams. Those over 70 must undergo additional exams to renew their license, which will be issued for a maximum of one year.

The driver's license process is conducted through the "Mi Argentina" application, where the desired course type is selected and seven mandatory modules are completed digitally and self-assisted. Upon completing the courses, a certificate can be downloaded to be presented along with the required documentation when processing the National Driver's License.

To obtain the professional license in categories Class C, D, or E, the applicant must be at least 21 years old. Although Argentina does not specify a maximum age for driving, renewals are issued for shorter periods starting from the age of 65. Drivers must display a "beginner" sign on their vehicle during the first six months of obtaining the license.
