Emergency Landing of Aerolíneas Argentinas Flight

An Aerolíneas Argentinas plane had to make an emergency landing at Ezeiza International Airport after experiencing a failure in one of its engines. Fortunately, no issues were reported among the passengers, according to company sources.

The aircraft involved was a Boeing 737-800 that took off from Jorge Newbery Airport bound for Neuquén at 5:21 PM, operating flight AR1648. During the takeoff, the engine failure was detected, prompting the commander to declare an emergency and follow the appropriate protocol. The plane conducted holding patterns to burn off fuel and facilitate the landing.

After detecting the loss of power in the engine, it was determined that it was likely due to a "bird strike," and with only one functioning engine, it was decided to redirect the flight to Ezeiza Airport, which has a longer runway to provide greater safety for landing. Despite the situation, the passengers remained calm, and the plane successfully landed at 5:55 PM, a little more than half an hour after takeoff.

Following established protocols, the aircraft was escorted by emergency services and directed to a parking area, where passengers were able to disembark normally, without the need for evacuation. It is scheduled that tonight at 10 PM, the flight will continue to Neuquén.
