A tragic multi-car accident on National Route 9 in Árraga resulted in the deaths of a 12-year-old boy and a 37-year-old man. Two others were seriously injured.


Tragic Multi-Car Accident in Árraga

A multiple crash on National Route No. 9, at kilometer 1111 in the Santiago town of Árraga, resulted in two fatalities and two serious injuries early this Monday morning.

According to a report from Diario Panorama, the accident occurred around 3 a.m. and involved a black Volkswagen Gol driven by Ramón Ángel Díaz, 44, a resident of the Siglo XX neighborhood in the Capital. The vehicle collided with two motorcycles carrying the victims.

One of the motorcycles, a black Honda Biz, was carrying Carlos Herrera, 41, and his 12-year-old son Benicio. After the impact, the minor lost his life at the scene, while his father was seriously injured. The second motorcycle, a red and black Honda XR, was driven by Diego Agustín Torres, 37, who died instantly, and his partner Silvia Torres, 41, was urgently transported to the Regional Hospital with serious injuries.

The Volkswagen Gol also collided with a gray Ford Fiesta driven by Lorena Alagastino, 53, who did not suffer serious injuries. Police officers, forensic personnel, and paramedics from SEASE 107 worked at the accident scene, providing assistance to the injured and taking the injured woman to the hospital.

In the words of the authorities: "The strong impact caused a tragic outcome that deeply saddens us. We are investigating the causes of the accident to determine responsibilities and take necessary measures to prevent such tragedies from recurring in the future."
