Chief of Staff of the Ministry of Health of the City of Buenos Aires, Margarita Cejas, issued a warning regarding Argentina's decision to leave the World Health Organization (WHO), pointing out that such a determination was not submitted for consideration by the Federal Council of Health. At the same time, she confirmed the first cases of dengue in the city.
"Networking is very important," said Cejas in an interview on Splendid radio 990. The announcement of Argentina's exit from the WHO came after President Javier Milei communicated the decision, in line with the determination made by his American counterpart, Donald Trump.
Regarding the dengue outbreak, the official reported: "We have 6 confirmed cases of dengue in the city, we are a bit behind in the season." Preventive measures have been intensified compared to the previous year, and there has been an increase in the number of people informed about it.
Cejas emphasized the importance of the WHO's role in coordinating outbreaks and epidemic control, indicating that it is a responsibility that someone must assume. She stressed that the decision to leave the organization did not go through the Federal Council of Health.
