Argentina Announces Extraordinary Bonus for Pensioners

The national government has announced the delivery of an extraordinary bonus of up to 70,000 pesos to retirees and pensioners for November 2024, with the aim of alleviating the effects of inflation on the incomes of the most vulnerable sectors.

This benefit includes holders of contributory benefits from ANSES, as well as beneficiaries of the Universal Pension for the Elderly (PUAM) and non-contributory pensions. ANSES has been authorized to take additional measures to ensure the correct administration and timely delivery of this assistance.

As part of a set of measures aimed at protecting the purchasing power of retirees against inflation and price fluctuations, the government plans to adjust pension benefits monthly in accordance with the Consumer Price Index from INDEC.

The bonus established by Decree 965/2024 will be directed to those whose incomes do not exceed the minimum guaranteed benefit, adjusting for those who exceed that limit. It is specified that the bonus is not salary-based, cannot be deducted or counted for other purposes, ensuring its nature as direct aid to beneficiaries.
