Argentina Shows Economic Recovery Signs in September

A private study revealed that seven out of the ten indicators analyzed experienced positive performance in September, remaining stable over the last three months. Likewise, eight out of the ten indicators contributed positively to the recovery process of the Composite Coincident Index of Economic Activity of Argentina (ICA-ARG).

The report indicated that the ICA-ARG had an increase of 0.5% in September, marking its sixth consecutive month of positive evolution, which, according to the data available to date, would suggest that the recession has been left behind in the country. This index is jointly prepared by the Rosario Stock Exchange and the Santa Fe Stock Exchange.

During the period from April to September, the ICA-ARG showed a gain of 3.1%, recovering a large part of the decline observed in the first three months of the year and reaching a level similar to that of December 2023. However, the year-on-year exchange rate remains in negative territory, with a decline of -3.5% compared to the same month of the previous year.

The ICA-ARG synthesizes information from ten economic indicators that cover various sectors, such as the production of extensive crops, industrial production, construction activity, among others. This index has been key in providing a comprehensive view of economic activity in Argentina and indicating the exit from recession in the country.
