Flybondi Denies Sanctions by ANAC

The low-cost airline Flybondi denied being sanctioned by the National Administration of Civil Aviation (ANAC) and indicated in statements to Noticias Argentinas that "what the agency did was draft 3 records (three), which had not been received by the company and it learned about them through the media."

This afternoon, ANAC had issued a statement informing of "sanctions" against Flybondi, but later rectified and stated that it was a "mistake." "SANCTIONS TO FLYBONDI FOR FAILURE TO PROVIDE SERVICES," read the headline of the statement released this afternoon and added: "The National Administration of Civil Aviation (ANAC), an agency under the National Transport Secretariat, fulfilling its role as a control and monitoring authority for air transport services, continues to draft records for airlines for failures in service provision, such as flight cancellations and itinerary changes without prior notice."

However, later they sent a clarification to the media stating: "Clarification: In response to various inquiries, the company (Flybondi) is being notified of the infringement records on the date. So far, there are no sanctions; the corresponding infringement records were drafted and the company has the opportunity to appeal before they are established."

According to ANAC, the measure was taken "fulfilling its role as a control and monitoring authority for air transport services." They maintained that "the agency under the National Transport Secretariat continued to draft records for airlines for failures in service provision, such as flight cancellations and itinerary changes without prior notice." And emphasized that "during the last month, in the context of multiple detected failures and consequent complaints from passengers, ANAC has drafted three infringement records against the company Flybondi for 23 cancellations of commercial flights."

The primary objective of these sanctions is to protect passengers, although the ultimate purpose will be reflected when companies fulfill their services in a timely manner, reducing the average violations that occur per month," the statement indicated.
