The subway and premetro workers' union held a strike in protest against the government's repressive and austerity plan, which they described as increasingly authoritarian and repressive towards those who think differently. Claudio Dellecarbonara, one of the executive secretaries of the Subway and Premetro Workers' Trade Union Association (AGTSyP), stated that the intense campaign against the strike demonstrates the importance the government assigns to it.
In statements to Radio Splendid, Dellecarbonara mentioned the government's actions, such as messages at transport stations and the Mi Argentina application, which encouraged reporting unions that promoted adherence to the strike. According to the union representative, these responses demonstrate the government's concern regarding the labor protest.
The subway strike continued in defense of sovereignty, Aerolíneas Argentinas, and in solidarity with citizens affected by the National Government's austerity policies, according to AGTSyP. Furthermore, the union criticized the Motor Transport Union (UTA) for announcing a bus strike for the following day, highlighting that their measure was not related to AGTSyP's.
AGTSyP also condemned the use of Mi Argentina to intimidate and stigmatize those exercising their constitutional right to strike. In the statement, the union expressed its rejection of the government's policies since December 10, which they believe benefit a minority to the detriment of the majority of society.
