Sandra Pettovello, Minister of Human Capital, requested the resignation of Constanza Cassino, Undersecretary of Administrative Management of the Ministry of Childhood and Family, after learning about the situation related to the purchase of a coffee maker for an amount of $1,917,000. Cassino submitted her resignation through a letter, effective as of October 31, 2024.
Juan Grabois, leader of the Movement of Excluded Workers (MTE), exposed the mentioned purchase on social networks, pointing out 'Pettovello's privileges.' He emphasized the overpriced coffee and other high expenses, harshly criticizing the situation. Pettovello indicated that although the amount is not significant for the ministry, it is part of the policy to eliminate unnecessary expenses attributed to 'the caste.'
In his message, Grabois stated: 'The overpriced frothy coffee ($1,917,000) and the triples of Pettovello's catering (3 suspiciously round million) could pay for 6,444 lunch servings according to the UNDP, the one that this perfumed rock denies to the kids.' Additionally, he questioned Pettovello's remuneration and mentioned alleged extra pay provided by the OEI.
The reaction to Grabois's message was immediate, with Pettovello's team clarifying that, while it is a formality, the amount does not represent a significant burden for the ministry, justifying it as part of the strategy to reduce unnecessary expenses attributed to what they call 'the caste.'
