Today, protests will take place at different points in the Greater Buenos Aires area, mainly in front of municipalities and railway stations, such as in Lanús, Presidente Perón, La Matanza, Moreno, Merlo, Luján, Marcos Paz, and Hurlingham. Traffic blockades will occur at strategic points such as intersections of main streets and avenues in each locality.
As part of these demonstrations, the Government will meet with representatives of the Motor Tramway Union (UTA) in an effort to resolve the salary conflict that could lead to a bus strike in the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Area (AMBA) this Thursday. The meeting will be held at the Ministry of Labor and will focus on the union's salary demands, which seeks staggered increases to reach a basic salary of $1,322,136 in December. The UTA called for the demonstration after failing to reach an agreement in previous meetings.
Meanwhile, it is expected that the picketer organizations will carry out more than 500 blockades across the country in the context of a transportation strike affecting trains, subways, airplanes, and trucks, excluding buses. The protests extend to the City of Buenos Aires, the province of Buenos Aires, and nationally, where community kitchens and assemblies will be held as forms of protest.
In the province of Buenos Aires, traffic blockades are also replicated in different localities such as Malvinas Argentinas, José C. Paz, Berazategui, Quilmes, Moreno, Almirante Brown, and other strategic points. The actions are part of a broader day of protest that seeks to highlight social and union demands amid an economic crisis.
