Cultural Day for Hospital Garrahan Protest

The Association of Professionals and Technicians of the Garrahan Hospital (APyT) will carry out a 24-hour strike tomorrow with a sit-in at the building in search of salary improvements and in defense of public health. This will be the sixth day of protests, having had three 24-hour measures and one 48-hour one.

Throughout the day, there will be a cultural embrace in support of Garrahan in the context of the fight against the proposal from Javier Milei's government to underfund, empty, and transfer national hospitals to municipal or provincial levels without a budget, which risks the existence of Garrahan Hospital.

According to Norma Lezama, the general secretary of APyT, the goal of the protest is to demand an initial salary of 1,500,000 pesos and a 100 percent increase to recover what was lost in the last year. The concentration will begin at 7 at the entrance on Combate de los Pozos street, and at 10:30 a central act will take place on Pichincha street with a public Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation class as a sign of protest.

"This is a CPR for public health, public education, pensions, and income for all households, because all of this is in a critical state due to the destruction of the state from within, as President Javier Milei confessed," Lezama assured, emphasizing the importance of preserving the institution in the face of underfunding and the lack of response from Health Minister Mario Lugones.
