Argentine Government Resumes Public Works

The Chief of Staff, Guillermo Francos, met today with three governors from Northwestern Argentina (NOA) to promote a series of works in each of those provinces, intending to reactivate part of the economy in those districts. The meeting took place at the Casa Rosada and was attended by the Minister of Economy, Luis Caputo, and the Deputy Chief of Staff for the Interior, Lisandro Catalán.

"We reviewed with governors Osvaldo Jaldo (Tucumán), Gustavo Sáenz (Salta), and Raúl Jalil (Catamarca) the works we have agreed to carry out this year in their respective provinces," stated Francos after the meeting. This initiative aims to boost public works in these three provinces, following the budget cuts announced by President Javier Milei upon taking office in December 2023.

Last year, the national administration reduced the budget for these projects by 83 percent, resulting in the paralysis of a significant number of initiatives. After the initial cuts, the most affected districts were the City of Buenos Aires, the Province of Buenos Aires, La Rioja, Santa Cruz, and Chubut. Now, with the push for these works in the NOA, there is an expectation to revitalize the local economy and stimulate the construction sector in the region.
