In Salta province, a man has been sentenced to three years of conditional prison for animal cruelty and mistreatment. A woman denounced the accused, Juan Marcelo Vargas Ricaldi, for having illegal dog breeding farms in the Tres Cerritos neighborhood, where the animals were found in deplorable health conditions, while several of them were used for profit. The pets were rescued and received medical attention from veterinarians, according to the Argentine News Agency. Through a abbreviated trial, Vargas Ricaldi confessed his responsibility in the facts and will have to comply with behavioral rules, as well as a course on animal awareness, according to the information from the Public Prosecutor's Office (MPF). Likewise, he will have to donate money to the Veterinary Faculty of UCASAL, with the objective of buying food and disposable material for castration surgeries, while Judge of Guarantees No. 4, Diego Rodríguez Pipino, ruled a disqualification to approach the dogs. In this context, the culprit received a sentence of three years of conditional prison for the crimes typified in Law 14.346.
