Mendoza Minister Accuses Radical Environmentalists of Vandalism and Hypocrisy

The Minister of Energy and Environment of Mendoza, Jimena Latorre, launched a strong criticism this Wednesday against radical environmentalist sectors, accusing them of acting with "inconsistency" and lacking intellectual honesty, after billboards from an official environmental awareness campaign were vandalized. Through her social media, Latorre condemned the damage caused to the billboards that aim to promote environmental care and pointed directly at those who, she claimed, appropriate the environmentalist discourse but contradict their own slogans with their actions. "They arrogate the banners of environmentalism and the only one they truly raise is that of inconsistency," stated the official. "They use social networks, artificial intelligence, electricity, and multiple technological resources, but they don't want mining," she stated. Finally, the head of the Energy and Environment portfolio concluded her message with a direct accusation: "They are traitors to the most elemental thing: their own intellectual honesty." Latorre also emphasized that the vandalism acts attack public goods and delegitimize any claim related to caring for the natural environment. The minister listed a series of contradictions that, in her view, characterize these sectors: "They ask for care and sanctions, but they pollute; they demand controls, but they don't want to be part of them; they claim to defend the assets of Mendoza residents and vandalize them," she expressed. Additionally, Latorre questioned the stance of absolute rejection of mining activity, pointing out that many of its detractors use technologies daily that depend on that industry.
