Police Officer Detained After Woman's Killing in Mendoza Shooting

A police officer has been detained following a fatal shooting in Mendoza province, where a woman was killed. The incident occurred during a confrontation between parking lot attendants and patrons of a nightclub. Early Sunday morning, residents of Guaymallén were shocked by a shooting at the exit of the Queen Disco nightclub. The conflict began when patrons refused to pay for vehicle protection. As the fight escalated into violence, the parking attendants took refuge in the home of Cynthia Landi. Minutes later, a white Volkswagen Gol Trend drove past the house and fired five shots, one of which struck the woman in the armpit. According to information obtained by the Argentine News Agency and reported by MDZ, the victim died on her way to the Central Hospital. The attackers fled at high speed down 25 de Mayo Street, and an investigation of security camera footage allowed police to identify the vehicle's occupants. It was determined that one of the occupants was a Mendoza police officer, who has since been detained. Although ballistics confirmed the bullet that hit Landi was from a .380 caliber, not a service weapon, authorities are working to establish if the officer was the one who fired the shots using a secondary pistol in his possession.
