A Chilean woman, who had been wanted in Spain for 13 years for robbery, has been extradited following a large-scale operation after being captured in Mendoza, Argentina, upon crossing from her home country. Agents of the Argentine Federal Police's (PFA) Directorate General of International Coordination handed over the 33-year-old Chilean woman to Spanish authorities. She was wanted through an international arrest warrant issued by the Penal Court No. 3 of Manresa for the crime of robbery. The accused is alleged to have participated in a home invasion in the city of Manresa in June 2012. Along with an accomplice, she forcibly entered the property and stole various valuables and cash, amounting to approximately 13,000 euros, according to a police report accessed by the Argentine News agency. During the investigation, it was learned that the woman fled, which prompted Interpol to issue an international alert to locate her. It was only in July of this year that there were new developments regarding the accused when personnel from the National Directorate of Migration (DNM), stationed at the International Cristo Redentor Pass in Mendoza, 'detected that the woman was attempting to enter the country from Chile'. Following verification with agents of the OCN – Interpol Buenos Aires, it was confirmed that the restrictive measure was still in force, so the DNM made the Chilean citizen available to the Federal Criminal and Correctional Court No. 1 of Mendoza, presided over by Leopoldo Rago Gallo, where she was placed under the custody of the National Gendarmerie. Upon the arrival of information about her detention, Spanish judicial authorities formalized the extradition request, which was authorized. Thus, the Federal Division for the Investigation of Fugitives and Extraditions of the PFA coordinated with its counterparts in that European country to carry out the procedures and logistics to implement the measure. In recent hours, a Spanish police commission arrived in Argentina to take custody of and transfer the accused from the Ministro Pistarini International Airport in Ezeiza.
