National deputy from Mendoza, Adolfo Bermejo, has requested the national government that the funds saved from the elimination of the PASO be directed to public works in the province. In his intervention, Bermejo expressed his concern that the government is focusing its attention on less urgent matters, such as the suspension of primary elections, instead of prioritizing issues of greater relevance for the country.
In this regard, the deputy from the Justicialist Party explained that national legislators supported the official proposal with the purpose of generating a saving of 200 million dollars. According to Bermejo, these resources should be allocated to public infrastructure projects in Mendoza, especially those that have been halted due to lack of funding.
"We request the National Government to use the resources to complete the unfinished housing projects. While the Government focuses on secondary issues like the PASO, these stalled works represent a risk of usurpation, higher costs for completion, and hinder the development of the province," Bermejo pointed out.
The deputy also proposed that the saved money be allocated to crucial hydraulic works to prevent the effects of storms and other climatic contingencies in Mendoza. He also suggested that the funds be transferred to the National Water Institute in Mendoza, in order to improve water infrastructure and protect the province from possible natural disasters.
