Hebe Casado Supports Controversial Legal Changes

The vice governor of Mendoza, Hebe Casado, expressed her support for President Javier Milei's proposal to eliminate the legal figure of femicide from the Penal Code. In an interview on MDZ Radio, Casado defended Milei's positions regarding individual freedoms, especially on issues of sexual orientation, as long as they are not funded by the state. Casado also backed the criticisms Milei received after his speech at the Davos Forum, mentioning that his statements were taken out of context.

Regarding femicide, Casado considers it to be murder with aggravating circumstances and advocates for equality before the law. She also mentioned that the province of Mendoza is seen as a key ally by the national government, highlighting measures such as the Incentive Regime for Large Investments and the first privatization of a state-owned company in the region. The possibility of splitting the provincial elections is also being evaluated, depending on the national landscape and negotiations with the central government.

On her political future, Casado did not rule out the possibility of joining La Libertad Avanza, although she underscored that she has not yet made a definitive decision. Rumors arose after a meeting at Casa Rosada with Karina Milei and Patricia Bullrich. Regarding the electoral scenario in Mendoza, the vice governor pointed out that dialogue with the national government is ongoing and that concrete strategies have not yet been defined. Casado concluded by highlighting her stance against positive discrimination, advocating for the inclusion of aggravating factors in murder cases according to the circumstances, regardless of the victim's sex.
