Six people, including Leonardo Cositorto, are being charged in a trial by a court in Goya. Despite having reached a financial agreement with 98 affected individuals, the prosecutors have not approved it. In light of this situation, the lawyer for two of the defendants requested a one-week recess, arguing a change in the defense strategy.
The court granted the request, postponing the continuation of the trial until next Wednesday, October 30. Four witnesses are expected to appear in the next session. On the other hand, the lawyer for the victims submitted a document confirming acceptance of the financial agreement proposed by the defendants, but the prosecutors rejected the agreement, considering it against the public interest and the severity of the crimes committed.
The president of the court decided that the trial would proceed normally despite the defendants' expectation that the pact would be approved and the trial concluded in Corrientes, which could set a relevant precedent for other cases related to GeneraciĆ³n Zoe. In response to this decision, the defendants' lawyer requested the recusal of the prosecutors, supported by the prosecution, but the court rejected this request as unfounded.
"The trial will continue with the same prosecutors," declared the president of the court, arguing that the recusal was based on personal opinions regarding the prosecutor's actions, which were not sufficient grounds to remove the prosecutors from the case.
