The director of Civil Defense for the Province of Buenos Aires, Fabián García, provided details about the explosion and fire in Ezeiza and assured that the situation "never represented a serious risk to people", despite the initial uncertainty caused by the smoke and early reports. The official emphasized in an interview with the Argentine News Agency the need to "bring tranquility to the population" and confirmed that, although the smoke is annoying, air quality measurements indicate it is not "toxic" in the sense of causing direct and immediate harm. Fabián García explained that yesterday was "an intense day where we focused on the work of containing the fire". The initial strategy focused on protecting the perimeter, especially "an industrial refrigeration company that had ammonia" 200 meters from the fire. He highlighted that the fire "had violent characteristics" but insisted that "the situation was never out of control in terms of risk to the population". He stressed: "We have no record of serious injuries" and there are also no reports of missing persons. The official confirmed that the fire is not extinguished, but is "contained", which means "it is not going to go beyond the limits where it is developing". "What we have set up there is a defense line for those companies," he explained. Additionally, he noted that the forecast for an increase in wind intensity will favor the dispersion of smoke particles and the plume, which will alleviate the situation: "As the wind increases in intensity during the day, that will favor the dispersion of those particles". Regarding consequences for personnel, García reported only "minor injuries". The fire was located in an industrial park, with warehouses of various logistics and chemical product companies. It is estimated that there are "100 warehouses" affected to varying degrees.
