Ander Herrera's Training Alert Before Key Match

Ander Herrera trained differently due to muscle overload ahead of Boca's match against Defensa y Justicia. The club assures there’s no confirmed injury, focusing on prevention.

Ander Herrera's Training Alert Before Key Match

Basque footballer Ander Herrera sounded the alarm at Boca by training separately due to a muscle overload, just a few days before the team's next match against Defensa y Justicia. Although no injury has been confirmed, the coaching staff decided to decrease the workload as a preventive measure, given that the 35-year-old player has been a starter in several consecutive matches.

The Spanish midfielder has a muscle overload and following the recommendation of the coaching staff, he underwent differentiated training at the Ezeiza Training Center. The club has conveyed calmness, assuring that removing him from regular training is only a preventive measure.

"Herrera comes from a streak of four consecutive matches as a starter after overcoming a hamstring tear, which has imposed a great physical demand that could be taking its toll," said Boca. Despite the initial concern, they trust that the player will be available for the next match.

In contrast, the presence of Kevin Zenón on Sunday remains doubtful, as he is not at a hundred percent physically. Boca will count on the recovery of key players for the next match, but they face challenges due to the busy schedule with demanding matches.

Coach Fernando Gago has various options in case Herrera or Zenón are unavailable. Both Tomás Belmonte and Rodrigo Battaglia have recovered from their muscle issues and are training with the group, standing out as alternatives in the midfield.

Additionally, Cristian Lema, a defender who suffered a ligament injury in his left ankle in October 2024, is also available again, although he has not yet been called up by the coach.
