Cordoba Floods: Rivers Overflow Amid Record Rainfall

Rainfall of 120 millimeters in various parts of Córdoba over the last few hours has already surpassed the historical monthly average for April, causing rivers and streams to rise and prompting authorities to issue an alert due to the potential worsening of weather conditions.

The downpours have already caused damage in the city of Córdoba and nearby localities, with similar conditions recorded in the interior on Friday. Inriville, located 280 kilometers southeast of the capital, was the hardest hit.

According to the National Meteorological Service (SMN), the highest rainfall was recorded in La Cumbrecita (120 mm), followed by Brinkman (75 mm), La Posta (69 mm), San Francisco (68 mm), and others.

The significant rise of the Río Medio in La Cumbrecita has caused concern among residents and authorities, who have taken precautions to prevent further issues, such as restricting access to areas near the watercourse.

Experts note that due to persistent rains in the mountainous highlands, rivers may rise again in the coming hours, a trend that is becoming common as autumn begins in the Southern Hemisphere.
