Argentina, Córdoba. Jorge Javier Grasso, one of the accused in the femicide case of Milagros Basto in the province of Córdoba, has changed gender and was transferred to the women's pavilion at the Bouwer prison, where he has already had serious conflicts with another inmate and a guard. The measure was confirmed by prosecutor José Bringas, who explained that Grasso's ID indicates a female gender, although he has not yet changed his name. For several weeks, the doubt persisted due to the advanced state of decomposition of the body. After the first forensic results, it was possible to determine that it was Basto, and the autopsy confirmed that the young woman had been murdered six months ago, at the time she disappeared. There are already two detainees in the case. They are the brothers Horacio and Jorge Javier Grasso. A piece of information provided is that this modification was made before the start of the investigation, which proves that it was a decision by Jorge Javier and not a way to prevent his capture, the Argentine News Agency learned. Faced with this scenario, his transfer to the Bouwer prison, in the women's pavilion, was carried out, but now, according to information from the El Doce TV medium, he has already had a strong fight with another inmate, where a guard was injured, and now they are evaluating his transfer. "We are gathering all the elements to request the National Government the possibility of transferring Grasso to Buenos Aires because he cannot be with women," affirmed the Secretary of Penitentiary Management, Nadia Fernández. The official questioned the use of the current regulation and exposed the current situation: "The two people say they are of female gender, but they hide behind a national law to have benefits and contact with victims." Basto's femicide The investigation began when the family of Milagros Basto reported her disappearance between November and December 2024. Since then, various search operations were carried out, all with negative results. Even so, everything changed in mid-July of last year when masons, who were making repairs inside the home of Grasso, who was serving house arrest for the murder of Facundo Novillo Cancinos, found a closet that was sealed with cement, so they notified the Police. After knocking down the block, the agents found Basto's body.
