The Lieutenant Governor Osvaldo Jaldo has taken sides in the dispute between the Governor of La Rioja, Ricardo Quintela, and former President Cristina Kirchner, expressing his support for Quintela. Jaldo stated that his political space and the PJ District of Tucumán will support Quintela's list in the internal elections scheduled for November 17. This comes after a reception for Jaldo by President Javier Milei, where the veto of the University Funding Law was supported.
In response to the criticisms of Mayra Mendoza, the mayor of Quilmes, for his support of Quintela, Jaldo emphasized that Cristina Kirchner is in the heart of the people and does not need to justify his support for her. On the other hand, the Governor of Buenos Aires, Axel Kicillof, highlighted his stance in favor of unity within the PJ, without encouraging divisions or discord among comrades.
For his part, Jaldo reinforces his support for Quintela as a way to strengthen the national Peronist movement. In a gesture to pacify the internal conflict of the PJ, Cristina Kirchner and Kicillof met in La Plata to commemorate the anniversary of the Grandmothers of Plaza de Mayo. This meeting aimed to calm the tensions within the party in light of the upcoming internal elections.
Jaldo's support for Quintela is not only verbal, as the president of the Peronist bloc of the Tucumán Legislature, Roque Tobías Álvarez, is on Quintela's list as the fourth vice president. The internal dispute within the PJ continues to develop, with calls for unity from some sectors and criticisms from others.
