Argentina Approves Milei's Labor Reform as an Urgent Necessity

The labor reform promoted by Javier Milei has received a largely positive response from Argentines and is perceived as an urgent transformation. A survey by the consultancy firm led by Aníbal Urios detected a profound cultural shift: six out of ten respondents consider it essential to advance with structural changes, even when they involve revising historical conditions of the labor market. “62% said ‘yes, of course’ when we asked if the labor reform is urgent,” Urios detailed. He described 2026 as “the year of expectations,” in which the population will wait for the reforms to translate into concrete improvements. The survey also shows that support is not limited to the urgency of the debate. Among the points discussed are the possibility of splitting vacations into shorter periods, modifying the severance pay calculation, and reviewing leave policies. The public, however, distinguishes between what needs to be changed and what is working correctly. In parallel, the opening to international trade and competition with imported goods generate a debate about their effects, with the public supporting openness while demanding fairness, believing the problem lies in competition due to taxes.
