MID Deputy Criticizes Government for Internal Fights and Ignoring Opposition

The head of the MID bloc of deputies, Oscar Zago, regretted today that his bloc and the Coherencia bloc, both split from La Libertad Avanza, were not invited to dialogue by the Government, and said that due to the “internal fights” the Executive Power has, “there are more operations than in an operating room.” “It’s been a while that Guillermo Francos was alone with (Lisandro) Catalán, and one could realize that that was not going to last long. Let's hope the Government's reshuffle is for the better, but we know that when there are many internal fights, it's always for the worse,” he expressed. Zago, who presided over the La Libertad Avanza bloc until mid-2024, stated that “the Government has been immersed in an internal fight for a long time,” and asked: “Don't blame the opposition anymore, the problem is inside, not outside. They have more operations than a hospital operating room,” he mocked. He regretted that “neither the MID bloc nor the Coherencia bloc were summoned” for dialogue by the Casa de Gobierno, and also criticized that the Executive Power did not summon all the governors to achieve an agenda of reforms. “The 24 governors have to be summoned, it is not right not to do so. Later, many differences may arise, but I remember that with the governor of Corrientes (Gustavo Valdés) there were strong differences a week before the September elections, and now he was there as a guest,” he stated. When asked, he pointed out that “never a midterm election was polarized in a tremendous way, not even the last presidential one,” and attributed this to the fact that there were no PASO primaries, which serve as an organizer for many smaller forces. “We have to recognize that some of us were wrong to say that PASO should be eliminated because they were an expense, and now we see that without them there was a lack of prior organization,” he assured. Finally, he criticized that Manuel Adorni or Diego Santilli are not taking their seats, and said that this situation along with other similar cases “is a disgrace.” “There are more testimonial candidates than deputies, it will be the Congress of the testimonial candidates,” he said with irony and added that the decision of Silvia Lospenatto, elected as a legislator for the PRO but who still has two more years as a national deputy, is still pending. Zago explained that if Lospenatto decides to resign as a deputy to take office in the legislature, her replacement “would be from Patricia Bullrich's sector” and could join La Libertad Avanza, so in that way the PRO would “lose another seat”.
