A 48-year-old man was arrested by the City Police in Las Cañitas after attempting to rob a clothing store and assaulting a customer. The incident took place at Gorostiaga 1500, where the criminal entered the store and attacked the woman before trying to open the cash register. Due to the victim's resistance, the thief fled but was captured a few blocks away by authorities following a 911 call.
After his arrest on Maure 1700 following a brief foot chase, it was discovered that the man was also wanted for another robbery that occurred days earlier at a hair salon in the area. In that incident, the criminal had hit the owner of the establishment, dragged her, and locked her in a bathroom, taking $500,000 and a cellphone with him.
The detainee was placed at the disposal of Justice for attempted robbery, with the National Criminal and Correctional Court No. 6 in charge of the investigation. According to authorities, the individual has a criminal record and is involved in other pending cases.
