National Strike of Cotton Ginners in Argentina

The companies that process cotton and export thousands of tons are in the eye of the storm, as workers demand a fair wage that reflects their efforts. In a joint statement, the Federation of Workers of the Oilseed Industrial Complex, Cotton Processors, and Related Industries of the Argentine Republic (FTCIODyARA) and the Union of Oil Workers and Cotton Processors of Chaco (STADYCA) announced the start of a national strike of cotton processors across the country starting at midnight today.

The strike decision was made after the failure of wage negotiations, which prolonged due to the bad faith of the processing companies. The unions denounced that companies acted individually, avoiding the intervention of the Association of Argentine Cotton Processors (ADAA), the employers' chamber. This maneuver delayed conversations and, meanwhile, workers' wages continued to lose value month by month.

In the statement, the unions affirmed their commitment to the fight for fair and dignified wages, emphasizing the importance of solidarity and class awareness. They pointed out that the decision to resort to the strike was made in response to the companies' refusal to improve their wage offer, which had already been rejected by the union representatives at the negotiation table. The cotton processors are preparing to face the strike with determination and unity, aware that this is the way to guarantee fair and equitable treatment for their work.

The national strike of cotton processors has begun in all plants and establishments in the sector, as a response to the lack of progress in wage negotiations. Workers are determined to make their demands heard and will not back down until they achieve a salary that adequately recognizes their work and effort.
