The government criticized the general strike announced by the CGT for next month and the reappearance of Sergio Massa, former presidential candidate of Peronism, calling both events "the return of the living dead". According to a source from Casa Rosada consulted by the Agencia Noticias Argentinas, the CGT has called for its third general strike on April 8, breaking a truce that had lasted since Javier Milei's administration.
"The CGT is back, and Massa is also back. They didn't hold a single strike against Alberto Fernández," the government source highlighted. In reference to the recent incidents during the march of retirees and football fans, the official compared the situation to "the return of the living dead," alluding to zombie genre films.
Last weekend, Sergio Massa reappeared at a public event of the Frente Renovador, where he predicted a Peronist victory in this year's legislative elections in the province and in the City of Buenos Aires. Regarding the CGT strike, the possibility was mentioned that it may be declared due to issues related to social security after the elimination of governmental intermediation.
With the elimination of the triangulation between social security and prepaid services, contributions from members can be transferred directly to private companies, which has generated concern among some union health providers. These sectors requested the intervention of the CGT to avoid a collapse. "They went a year without strikes because they saw that salaries were outpacing inflation," the government source added.
