The national director of Regulatory and Judicial Link at the Ministry of Security, Fernando Soto, shared a video on his social media that turned out to be false. In the video, Soto claimed that the mobilization of retirees and fans at Congress was not a social protest, but rather a landing of organized violent individuals by mafiosos defending their businesses.
However, the Argentine News Agency (NA) verified that the video used by Soto did not correspond to the day of March 12, but to a caravan of Racing fans heading to the Huracán stadium on November 2, 2022, to watch the semifinal match against Tigre for the Champions Trophy.
Following the dissemination of the false content, the community debunked Soto's original post and provided clarifying context. Despite the correction, the official did not delete the post nor rectify his version.
