Controversy Erupts Over Government's Machista Video

The account of the Government House generated controversy for making a post considered sexist, misogynistic, and offensive towards women and diversity. In Argentina, a femicide is reported every 35 hours, reflecting the severity of gender-based violence in the country.

Leaders from different organizations and political sectors reacted to the video disseminated on the official Casa Rosada networks on the occasion of International Women's Day. In the audiovisual material, the previously implemented gender policies and the management of former president Alberto Fernández are questioned. The lack of preventive and assistance measures is highlighted, which could increase the alarming statistics of violence against women.

The Ni Una Menos collective issued a vigorous statement rejecting the government video, pointing out erroneous data and the promotion of the dismantling of public gender policies. They emphasize the persistent salary inequality between genders and the inequity in the distribution of paid domestic tasks.

Amid the criticisms, Myriam Bregman, former socialist deputy, recalled the sustained struggle of women in the streets, advocating for their rights, the legalization of abortion, and gender justice. The elimination of the Ministry of Women, Genders, and Diversity, as well as the cut of fundamental programs like Acompañar or the Micaela Law, are not considered austerity measures, but political decisions that endanger the safety and lives of people.

According to data from INDEC, the gender pay gap in Argentina exceeds 27%, demonstrating the persistence of inequality in the labor field and the urgency of effective policies to combat it.
