Aníbal Fernández Supports Retirees in Protest

The former Minister of National Security, Aníbal Fernández, expressed his support for the retirees participating in the weekly marches in front of the National Congress. He emphasized that "the elderly should not be hit, they should be cared for." Fernández criticized the police actions under the direction of Patricia Bullrich, the current Minister of National Security, claiming that the elderly are attacked simply for asking for a meal for their table.

In a radio interview, the former official denounced that the retirees, who manifest every Wednesday, are repressed by the police, generating great expenses without reason. He shared a video on his social media where a 90-year-old retiree states that he receives $340,000 monthly, eats once a day, and faces increasing difficulties. Additionally, he mentioned that the protesters are beaten and gassed during the demonstrations.

At the next march, the presence of supporters from at least 30 football clubs is expected, in support of retirees and pensioners. After receiving support from the Chacarita fans in the previous mobilization, a gathering of different fan bases is anticipated in front of the Congress starting at 4 PM, joining the usual organizations that accompany the elderly in their demands.
