The American Chamber of Commerce in Argentina (AmCham Argentina) issued a statement expressing its concern regarding the extraordinary and temporary appointment of judges to the Supreme Court by the government. According to the organization, this measure could pose a potential risk to legal security and institutional balance in the country.
In the statement, AmCham Argentina emphasized the importance of legal security as a fundamental pillar for competitiveness and sustained growth in Argentina. The entity urged the Senate to take responsibility and address the appointments proposed by the Executive within reasonable timeframes, whether for their approval or rejection.
In statements to radio Rivadavia, the Executive Director of AmCham Argentina, Alejandro Díaz, clarified that their position is not a challenge but a warning. Díaz emphasized that it is crucial to keep the discussion in the Senate and urged the institution to act responsibly and not delay the process.
"Our opinion is based on the companies that are part of our organization, not on what the United States says, although we have constant dialogue," Alejandro Díaz added. The main concern of AmCham Argentina lies in institutional unpredictability and the lack of clear rules that could negatively impact the business climate in the country, affecting the investments necessary for its economic development.
The organization highlighted the need for predictability and legal security as fundamental pillars for building a prosperous future and consolidating Argentina as a competitive nation. Díaz stressed the importance of the Senate supporting the appointment process responsibly and timely, avoiding possible delays that could affect judicial stability and confidence in the decisions of the Court.
