Ex President Cristina Kirchner Faces New Charges

The prosecutor before the Federal Court of Cassation, Mario Villar, today presented an extraordinary appeal to request that the Supreme Court of Justice review the sentence imposed on former president Cristina Kirchner in the framework of the Vialidad case. In his presentation, the prosecution requested that the sentence be raised to twelve years of imprisonment and that the crime of illicit association be attributed to her.

According to prosecutor Villar, a thorough review of the sentence imposed against the former head of state is necessary, who is currently serving a six-year prison sentence resulting from an oral trial in another case. The prosecution's request seeks to consider the illicit association figure in the case of Cristina Kirchner.

In response to the prosecution's request, the Supreme Court of Justice is expected to evaluate the extraordinary appeal presented and make a decision regarding a possible review of the current sentence against the former president in the framework of the Vialidad case.
