Luis Caputo Defends President Milei Amid Crypto Scandal

The Minister of Economy, Luis Caputo, came to the defense of President Javier Milei amid the scandal related to the cryptocurrency $LIBRA. He emphasized that in this case "there was no wrongdoing or crime." According to Caputo, this statement is shared even by those who have called for a political trial. In an interview with the A24 channel, the minister expressed his full support for the president: "I would say this practically about no one: I would put my hands in the fire, I will go to war with this President."

Caputo underlined Milei's integrity, describing him as someone one hundred percent committed to the country and who would not seek to benefit himself in any way. He even mentioned that Kirchnerism shares this opinion. Regarding the controversy sparked by a tweet posted on Milei's personal account last Friday, the Minister of Economy clarified: "This was not a government action, but a personal decision of the President. There was neither wrongdoing, nor crime, nor corruption; this is fundamental. For me, there are no public funds involved or anything like that."

Caputo defended Milei's reaction to the mistake made, pointing out that the president quickly acknowledged his error and took measures in this regard. He assured that the immediate creation of an investigative unit demonstrates that the President acted in good faith to correct the situation. In addition, the Minister of Economy stated that the initial promotion of the cryptocurrency $LIBRA, which experienced rapid capital growth followed by a collapse, does not call into question Milei's honesty. In Caputo's words: "The issue of personal gain is ruled out."
