During the government of Mauricio Macri, the Minister of Security, Patricia Bullrich, and the Minister of Deregulation and State Transformation, Federico Sturzenegger, joined forces to address the issue of femicides. At that time, they worked on reducing these crimes and achieved a 12.1% decrease, from 313 cases in 2017 to 275 in 2019, according to a report presented by Bullrich.
In the midst of the fight against gender violence, both ministers participated in the annual mobilization on June 3 under the slogan "Not One Less." Their commitment was reflected in the intention to eliminate femicides from the Penal Code, in collaboration with the Minister of Justice, Mariano Cúneo Libarona.
Although they do not currently hold government positions, Patricia Bullrich, in her role as president of the PRO, has continued to express her stance regarding the fight for women's rights. In a public letter addressed to former presidential spokesperson Gabriela Cerruti, Bullrich expressed her opinion on the criticisms received over clothing issues, emphasizing the importance of not trivializing gender struggles.
Recently, Bullrich and Sturzenegger expressed their opposition to the "Federal Antifascist and Antiracist March," which defended women's rights. For them, this mobilization represented a disdain for those who work and progress in society. In their statements, they highlighted the advancement of society against ideologies that, in their opinion, seek to distort the true meaning of the fight for women's rights.
After these recent actions and statements, the ties between Bullrich and Sturzenegger, which were previously focused on the fight against femicides, are now enveloped in a new context called the "woke agenda."
