The Secretary General of the State Workers' Association (ATE), Rodolfo Aguiar, expressed his opinion on the stance of some leaders of the General Confederation of Labor (CGT) regarding the call for a general strike. Aguiar pointed out that he believes certain union leaders "are living in another country" if they do not call for this forceful measure. About the current situation, the union leader stated that the year 2025 will be characterized by polarization in unionism and made it clear that "it must start to be clear on which side of the counter everyone is."
In an interview for Splendid AM 990, Aguiar questioned those who maintain dialogues with the Casa Rosada, stating that so far they have not been able to justify their actions or show concrete benefits for workers. In that sense, he argued that there are more than enough reasons and all the necessary conditions to carry out a general forceful measure and urged the CGT to take a position in this regard.
The head of ATE criticized the implemented policies which, from his perspective, harm the most vulnerable sectors. Aguiar denounced job losses both in the public and private sectors and mentioned that tax reductions for the agricultural sector negatively impact the economy, affecting workers, retirees, and the middle class. In his words, "they are destroying us" and he emphasized the need to take concrete measures to protect workers' rights in the current context.
