The president of Argentina appointed Santiago María Castro Videla as the new Attorney General of the Treasury, following the departure of Rodolfo Barra. Castro Videla is a lawyer specialized in administrative law and a professor at Universidad Austral.


Santiago Castro Videla Appointed New Attorney General

The National Government announced that Santiago María Castro Videla, a lawyer specialized in administrative law, will be the new Attorney General of the Nation, replacing Rodolfo Barra, who previously held the position. Castro Videla is a member of the law firm Bianchi, Galarce & Castro Videla Abogados and is part of the School of the State Attorneys of the Attorney General's Office of the Nation.

Among Castro Videla's significant works are 'The right to private property and economic freedom and maximum price controls' and 'The right to life and the 'morning-after pill'.' The lawyer is also a visiting professor at Universidad Austral and has academic publications.

Manuel Adorni, presidential spokesperson, announced Castro Videla's appointment at a press conference, emphasizing that the president considered him the most suitable candidate for the position of Attorney General of the Nation after Rodolfo Barra's completed term. Adorni stated: 'The Attorney General must defend the interests of the Nation, and indeed cycles are being completed, one was that of Rodolfo Barra, and the president believes that today the best to fill that position is no longer Rodolfo Barra, but rather Santiago María Castro Videla.'

Additionally, Adorni mentioned that Castro Videla's election was a decision made by the President last week and that there are no further details to clarify on the matter. Castro Videla, for his part, is the author of several books and academic articles, such as 'Reflections based on a judgment of the Argentine Supreme Court' and 'Legislative delegation and the regulatory state.'
