The government excused itself in advance for illegal occupations while arrogantly occupying a public building that had been open since the beginning to help those affected by a fire. The school in question had kept its doors open to welcome the community and organize the reception and distribution of donations to the affected families, becoming a center for gathering and support.

Despite being the only 4 weeks off in the year, the school team, composed of administrators, teachers, supervisors, assistants, mothers, fathers, and students, continued their work under the slogan "the school is open." This is a reminder of the commitment and importance of the Argentine public school in society, especially in educating the children of workers in precarious conditions.

The governor of Chubut, Ignacio "Nacho" Torres, occupied school 774 of Epuyén, citing reasons related to illegal occupations in the area during previous fires. However, most inhabitants of the Andean Comarca do not have property deeds. The school, like other local institutions, opened its doors immediately after the disaster to provide assistance to the community.

Despite the tragedy, the school continued to hold activities such as screening movies, organizing communal meals, and receiving donations. Governor Torres’s visit to the site generated criticism for how the situation was handled. The government offered "vouchers" for the purchase of construction materials, although it is suggested that the amount provided may not be sufficient for the total reconstruction of the homes.

The school remains open, providing support and containment to the community. Despite the challenges and adversities, the educational community and the inhabitants of Epuyén remain united and committed to rebuilding their lives and the region affected by the fire.
