New railway strike in Argentina

The La Fraternidad union has called for a transport strike on January 28 due to the lack of wage agreements that ensure the purchasing power of workers.

The La Fraternidad union, which represents workers in Argentina's railway sector, has decided to call for a new transport strike next Tuesday, January 28. This measure will affect all train services in the country between 09:00 and 15:00 local time.

This new call arises due to the lack of agreement in salary negotiations. La Fraternidad aims to address salary improvements that ensure the food-related nature of railway wages and protect the purchasing power of workers. In the words of the union last week: "We are not discussing money, but food."

The decision to call this strike was made due to the absence of responses from companies, the Argentine government, and concessionary companies. Workers in the sector have considered the previously granted salary increases of 1% in November and 2.5% in December as insufficient.

In an attempt to pressure authorities and companies to find a satisfactory solution, La Fraternidad has set a new strike date to highlight and amplify their claims.
