The Ministry of Health of the Nation continues with the distribution of influenza vaccine doses for older adults and the pediatric population in all jurisdictions within the framework of the 2026 National Influenza Vaccination Campaign. According to a report accessed by the Argentine News Agency, the health portfolio indicated that throughout the month of April, all vaccines agreed upon with each province will be delivered to ensure coverage for both risk groups. The Ministry of Health of the Nation completed a new shipment of adjuvanted vaccines to all provinces of the country, and through this new delivery, the distribution of doses aimed at protecting older adults against influenza exceeded 61%. Through the creation of a digital dashboard, the Ministry carries out real-time monitoring of the progress of vaccination, coverage achieved, and the stock of doses available in each province.
The influenza vaccine is indicated for children between 6 and 24 months of age, health personnel, people over 65 years of age, pregnant women and postpartum women (up to 10 days after discharge from the maternity ward if they were not vaccinated during pregnancy) and people of any age with risk factors. The vaccine is available in public hospitals, health centers and vaccination centers throughout the country and can be administered simultaneously with other vaccines on the National Calendar.
As planned together with the jurisdictions, distribution will be completed during the month of April. In addition, next week the third delivery of pediatric doses will take place, which will allow reaching 90.85% of the projected distribution for this year, while it is also planned to complete the shipment of doses during the last week of the current month. Regarding influenza vaccines for the adult population, more than a million doses have already been delivered, and it is expected to continue with the distribution in the coming weeks to complete 100% of deliveries in the month of May.
The influenza vaccination campaign was brought forward by three months. The Ministry of Health of the Nation decided this year to advance the National Influenza Vaccination Campaign by three weeks with the aim of improving coverage in the at-risk population groups before the start of the peak season for respiratory virus circulation. Through timely planning and logistical work, 8,160,000 doses were acquired, of which 4,700,000 correspond to the influenza vaccine for adults; 2,300,000 to the adjuvanted (aTIV); and 1,160,000 to the pediatric influenza vaccine. The Campaign also included the development of a comprehensive strategy that contemplated the training of health teams throughout the country, the publication of technical guidelines for vaccination, and the development of monitoring tools.
