The Boreal Foundation has launched a campaign to collect plastic bottle caps, which are used to manufacture eyeglass frames. These frames are then given for free to people without access to visual health care. The process is fully traceable: the caps are sorted by color, washed, and ground down into raw material. They are then melted and injected into molds to form the frames. After the final finishing and assembly, the product goes to the optical lab, where the lenses are placed according to each patient's prescription. The result is a finished pair of glasses, ready to be given for free to those in need. The campaign arose from the need to expand access to eyeglasses and at the same time generate a positive environmental impact. "We want each person to understand that those bottle caps that are normally discarded can become an essential health input. It is a concrete way to care for the environment and, at the same time, help someone," they conclude. The invitation is extended to families, educational institutions, organizations, and companies to participate by collecting caps and bringing them to any of the foundation's branches in Tucumán, Salta, Mendoza, Santiago del Estero, and Córdoba.
